| Training with MusicMake your hard out fitness sessions 10% easier with the use of music...
Stiller knows it. Rocky knew it. The Dambusters knew it too. You only do your best work with the right soundtrack!Research undertaken by Dr Costas Karageorghis at the Brunel University shows that the right kind of music, played at the right tempo at the right time can cut your perceived effort at the gym by at least 10%.But why bother with music? It diverts the mind from fatigue and makes the whole experience more enjoyable. Studies recommend music with strong rhythmic qualities and a tempo to match the intensity of the exercise your intended heart rate.By linking your heart rate in beats per minute to the beat of the soundtrack you will automatically push yourself further. So Athleat, along with a little help from Men's Health magazine and our friends over at Chicane have come up with a playlist that should help you to push a little harder. The playlist is based on a workout of three phases;(1) Warm up of 10 minutes (Heart rate 60>120bpm)(2) 5 x Intervals of 5 minutes followed by "active recovery" of 2.5 mins (Heart rate 150>110bpm)(3) Cool down 7.5 mins (Heart rate 120>60bpm)The playlist is available on iTunes now, but for those who already have the music (or are getting it from somewhere else) the playlist is available on the following link...Here at Athleat, we hope that your training is going well and your diet is well organised. Remember, your diet is only as good as the food in your fridge! |
